The purpose of the work is to develop the methodology of forensic veterinary examination of animal corpses in their various states and depending on the category, kind and type of death. Novelty – for the first time in Ukraine, a method of forensic veterinary examination of animal corpses has been prepared in their various states and depending on the category, kind and type of death, which includes information on the justification of the algorithm of forensic veterinary examination: animal corpses removed from water bodies; skeletonized, dismembered and rotting corpses of animals; corpses of newborn animals; carcasses of animals that died in veterinary medical institutions; substantiation of approaches to the use of additional instrumental and laboratory methods of researching animal corpses during their forensic veterinary examination; for asphyxiation of various etiologies, falling from a height, traffic accident, gunshot injury, injury by sharp and blunt objects, exposure to high and low temperatures, electric shock. For the first time, the main provisions regarding the application of special veterinary knowledge during the examination of an animal corpse at the scene with the participation of a specialist in the field of veterinary medicine are outlined; the essence, functions and significance of the stages of expert research in the forensic veterinary examination of animal corpses are disclosed; the informativeness of postmortem changes in the internal organs of dogs and cats for determining the time of death is argued.
