Objects of research - introduction and selection work with local forms of wild flora plants; introduced drought-resistant perennial grasses and rare fodder plants; morphological, economic and useful features of perennial grasses of the steppe ecotype. Research methods are laboratory-field, analytical, economic. A comparative analysis of the grass stands productivity according to the pasture-haystack use for the improvement of natural forage lands was carried out and the agrophytocenoses of the most promising models from introduced perennial drought-resistant grasses and rare fodder plants were determined for the degenerate natural forage lands improvement in the Ukraine Southern Steppe. It was established that the most promising agrocenoses for the natural fodder lands improvement in the Ukraine Southern Steppe are single-species and compatible sowings of the Coastal Boyan Cornflower (Bromus riparius) and Middle Hors Wheatgrass (Thinopyrum intermedium), which provided the highest yield of green mass of 12.2-17.8 t/ha or 3.5-4, 9 t/ha of dry matter, 2.4-3.4 t/ha of fodder units, 0.24-0.37 t/ha of digestible protein with a hay yield of 4.2-6.3 t/ha, the foliage of which in the phase tillering-tubing was 52.0-80%. On the basis of the conducted researches, agrotechnical techniques were developed for the creation of pasture and hay use ecologically adaptive agrophytocenoses while improving low-productive natural fodder lands under the conditions of the Ukraine arid Steppe.
