The object of the study is the state of food security of the population and the factors affecting it; food production, export and consumption chains; state policy in the field of food support for the population and improvement of food supply. The subject of the study is the theoretical and methodological principles of assessing the state of food security of the population and strategic directions for its improvement, food and price policy, mechanisms for ensuring food security. The most significant results are: a conceptual model of ensuring food security; model for assessing the impact of factors on household food costs in the village and the big city; integral indicator of export development and ranking of countries by export potential, taking into account socio-economic conditions; developed factor models and determined factors of food export development; methodical approaches to assessing the state of food security and consumer behavior of socio-demographic population groups under the influence of internal and external challenges; classification of means of food support of the population in the conditions of modern challenges, which contains 12 areas; informative and analytical report and presentation on food safety, which was announced by the director of the Institute; monthly presentation informational and analytical reviews on the assessment of the price situation of the main food products in Ukraine and the world, which are posted on the website of the Institute.
