Work concerns on the development of scientific and experimental foundations for controlled electrochemical synthesis of materials based on titanium suboxides of specified composition. Identification of materials, investigation of physico-chemical properties, determination of the influence of electrolyte composition and electrolysis conditions on the composition, physico-chemical properties, and electrochemical properties of the materials. Research methods – stationary and cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction. A complex set of new experimental data on the influence of electrolyte composition and electrolysis conditions on the physico-chemical properties of materials based on titanium suboxides was obtained. Materials were identified, their composition was determined, and morphology, texture, and semiconductor properties were investigated. Experimental data regarding the creation of materials with different compositions were obtained. The mechanisms of electrochemical formation of titanium oxide on a Ti substrate and their reduction were established. A general theory of electrochemical synthesis of titanium suboxides is proposed.
