It is shown that the greatest impact on the Dniester ecosystem was caused by its regulation and the mode of operation of hydroelectric units. The obtained results demonstrate an increase in the biodiversity of aquatic fauna and flora both in the buffer reservoir and in the transboundary area relative to earlier studies. In case of synchronizing the discharge modes of the HPP with the operation of the HPP and filling the buffer reservoir up to the design mark of 77.1 mBS within the existing reservoir, any risks for biodiversity and deterioration of the ecological condition of the transboundary section of the Dniester both today and during the operation of the Dniester HPP as part of seven hydraulic aggregates are absent at all.
