The purpose of the work is to determine the patterns of structure formation of supereutectic aluminum-silicon alloys with abnormal parameters of the structure and properties in the liquid state, to develop on their basis a nickel-free piston alloy with an increased iron content and technological parameters of its production. Research methods - optical and raster electron microscopy, quantitative metallography; X-ray structural, X-ray spectral, thermal, hardening and microstructural analyses; testing of mechanical and tribological properties. Modern ideas regarding the formation of the structure of supereutectic Al-Si alloys, the existing ways of improving their properties, and the tasks of the work are formulated. A study of the structure formation of supereutectic Al-Si alloys with a silicon content of 14 wt. % up to 18 wt. % under the conditions of physical and chemical effects on the liquid state. Based on the revealed regularities of structure formation, changes in the phase composition and morphology of iron-containing phases, their relationship with the characteristics of mechanical properties, the composition of a supereutectic aluminum-silicon piston alloy with an increased iron content was developed, its micro- and macrostructures, morphological features of phases and mechanical properties were investigated.
