It is shown that the effect of linear dichroism can lead to the generation of singular optical vector-vortex beams in axially inhomogeneous optical birefringent materials. The optical singularities of the vector field in liquid crystal nematic cells with circular planar and circular hybrid arrangements were experimentally investigated. It is experimentally shown that when a linearly polarized optical beam falls on a liquid crystal cell with a topological defect with strength q and linear dichroism, the resulting beam contains a composite vector beam with elementary vector beams with polarization orders m = 2q and m = q. An analysis of the arising of vector singularities of the acoustic field induced by non-homogeneous fields was carried out. It is shown that the applied inhomogeneous field can cause the acoustic singularity of the eigenvectors of the Christoffel tensor, and the induced "acoustic birefringence" is conically distributed in space, with an elliptical cross-section. This leads to the appearance of a single-charged acoustic vortex beam, which propagates inside the crystal. The possibility of generating acoustic vortex beams using an acoustic spiral phase plate and an acoustic diffraction grating with a fork-like bifurcation of slits is shown. The generation of acoustic vortex beams was experimentally detected and the features of acousto-optical diffraction on an acoustic vortex beam in the intermediate Bragg–Raman–Nath regime were investigated.
