The purpose of the work is to conduct a gender analysis of security challenges in Kyiv, to identify the main markers of safety of Kyiv residents in the context of UN Resolution 1325 "Women, Peace and Security", to analyze and provide recommendations on the perception of Kyiv residents and the introduction of gender-sensitive practices that play an important role in mitigating security challenges at the community level. The result of the work carried out: the existing metropolitan system of identification, prevention and response to security challenges, taking into account the needs of different groups of women and men, in particular the needs of women and men with disabilities, women and men, is assessed depending on the prioritized needs and interests, and social statuses and roles. Maximized assessments of Kyiv residents for a significant group of measures to prevent and respond to security challenges (war, pandemic, man-made disasters) for the city of Kyiv. Half of Kyiv residents assess the infrastructure facilities available in the capital (educational institutions, administrative service centers, city transport infrastructure, recreation areas, etc.) as taking into account the needs of women and men with children, and one-third of respondents believe that the urban environment is inclusive and takes into account the needs of elderly women and men and people with disabilities. One-third of respondents agree that there are dangers in the capital associated with sexual violence or rape of adolescent girls and women, sexual harassment of children and adolescents, insults, beatings of representatives of the city's LGBT community. For a more reliable and valid measurement of existing and potential gender gaps in terms of security challenges for residents of the capital, in the future, it is necessary to apply the combinatorics of quantitative and qualitative research.
