The aim of the research is to identify different types of virtual collections (taxonomic, reference, author's, memorial) based on scientific attribution and digitisation of the collections of the State Museum of Natural History, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. A total of 10231 records (Bryophyta, Marchantiophyta, Tracheophyta, Odonata, Carabidae, Ciidae, Buprestidae, Neuroptera, Bombus, Lepidoptera) from the herbarium and entomological collection of the State Museum of Natural History, NAS of Ukraine were processed and entered into the database of the Biodiversity of Ukraine Data Centre <http://dc.smnh.org/>. The analysis of literary sources published in the period 1900-1939 allowed to find out the timing and exact routes of researchers' expeditions, to clarify the names of places that have now gone out of use, and to determine the localities of collection of specific museum objects. The author's labels of J. Mondalski, H. Kozii, Y. Fudakovski, V. Sheliha-Mieżejewski, A. Stöckl, J. Łomnicki, V. Zanko, J. Noskiewicz, M. Sagan, J. Kinel, and R. Kunze were identified and their virtual author's collections were created. Virtual taxonomic collections of the genera Bazzania, Cicindela, Cylindera, Duvalius, Habroloma, and the family Felidae were also created; reference collections - the Collection of Typical Material of the State Museum of Natural History of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; collections of institutions - the Museum of Nature of the Medobory Nature Reserve, the Museum of Nature of the Roztochia Nature Reserve, and the Kremenets Mountains National Nature Park.
