Specimens of leafy species Parmelia sulcata Tayl., Xanthoria parietina (L.) Th. Fr. and Evernia prunastri (L.) Ach., collected in 2009-2011 and 2021-2022, was analyzed for the content of 22 chemical elements (Al, B, Ba, Ca, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, Ni, Pb, S, Sb, Se, Sr, Ti, V and Zn) using the method of optical emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (ICP-OES). In order to correctly compare the concentrations of elements in different species of lichens, they were intercalibrated to the base species P. sulcata and calibration coefficients, the so-called biogeochemical lichen indicator indicators (BGCHL indicators), were calculated. Based on these indicators, arithmetic mean hypothetical concentrations of elements in lichen samples collected from sites where P. sulcata was absent were calculated, and corresponding databases of element concentrations were created for all three species. In order to identify the possible sources of entry into the lichens of the specified elements for the above time periods, the method of factor analysis was applied, the results of which determined the causes that formed the pollution of the surface atmosphere of the specified arboretums in 2009-2022 and in 2021-2022. The comparison of the results of the factorial analysis of the content of chemical elements in the indicated lichens-indicators at different times of their sampling made it possible to assess the dynamics, intensity and causes of changes in the state of atmospheric pollution of arboretums over 10-12-year periods.
