The implementation of the planned topic was aimed at preparing important academic publications: Shevchenko’s novels with updated commentary, a corpus of memoirs about the poet, as well as at conducting in-depth survey of the history of Shevchenko studies in its continuous development – from the second half of the nineteenth to the beginning of the twenty-first century, analysis of insufficiently studied works, namely the poet’s diary. The relevance of the topic lies in its focus on the little-studied areas of Shevchenko studies. The implementation of the stated research programme made it possible to continue work on a new academic edition of Shevchenko’s works, including poetry, to lay a solid foundation for a new scientific biography of the poet, and to deepen knowledge of the poetry of the Journal. The work within the framework of the topic was aimed at providing historians of Ukrainian literature, as well as a wide range of admirers of Shevchenko’s oeuvre, with a reliable source of verified and properly commented information about the poet’s life – the publication of his memoirs. The study also examines the typological coincidences and contact-genetic links between the Journal and diary texts of the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries, the specifics of the functional principles of organisation and forms of authorial presence in the work, and the metapoetic features of the diary genre in the Ukrainian literary tradition. The results of the topic are embodied in publications with a total volume of 171.75 pages (individual monographs, articles in professional journals, etc.), and tested in 113 scientific reports.
