The purpose of the study is to improve the terminological regulatory framework of Ukraine with regard to civil protection means. Research methods: analytical, comparative and systematic. According to the results of the work: 1) for the first time, a terminological system for civil protection means was substantiated, consisting of 325 term articles and built with due regard for the scope of application of technical regulations. Based on the results of the examination conducted by the Technical Committee for Standardisation ‘Scientific and Technical Terminology’ (TC 19), the proposed terminology system was found to be complete and free of false circles; 2) the proposed terminology system for civil protection means was implemented in the draft DSTU ‘Civil Protection Means. Terms and Definitions of Basic Concepts’; 3) it was found that the standardised terminology system for fire-fighting equipment does not cover active fire protection equipment and smoke protection systems. In this regard, it is proposed to take measures to revise DSTU 2273:2006 ‘Fire-fighting equipment. Terms and definitions of basic concepts’. The results of the work will be used by the responsible technical standardisation committees and the national standardisation body in the development and adoption of national standards, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (MIA) in the development of legal and regulatory acts on civil protection and fire safety  Product Description popup.authors Ilchenko Nina M.
