 For the first time, using sociological data, the authors analyse the intellectual-critical potential of discourse as a factor in the formation of deliberative democracy in Ukraine, in particular: they clarify the peculiarities of deliberative democracy of Ukrainian society from the perspective of European integration; establish the correlation between deliberative and representative types of democracy in accordance with the development of civil society institutions in Ukraine; its mental and educational practices; reveal the contradictory nature of discursive practices and the topos of argumentation against the background of the rise of populism in the "post-truth situation" and the hybridisation of the social world; they substantiate the intellectual potential of argumentative practices in the process of establishing the institutions of deliberative democracy of Ukrainian society as a "habitus of mind" based on the "new Enlightenment" and the responsibility of intellectuals.
