The main focus of the research group’s survey was on the development of national and historical self-awareness of the Ukrainian community of the 19th and early 20th centuries as it was reflected in Ukrainian literature. The authors of the collective study clearly demonstrated related processes through their analysis of works by T. Shevchenko, P. Kulish, O. Konyskyi, Panas Myrnyi, I. Franko, and others. The work included preparation of the 6th and 7th volumes of “History of Ukrainian literature”, a collective study, and a number of individual studies. The relevance of the topic lies in its relation to the little-studied areas of Ukrainian literature and the task to update a theoretical base and interpretations, to introduce new research concepts and enrich the knowledge of Ukrainian literature, involving new facts and personalities of little-known writers. This should encourage further in-depth study of Ukrainian literature, culture, and history. The results of the work are accessible in publications with a total volume of 208.28 printed sheets (chapters in collective studies, individual books, papers in professional journals, etc.), and have been delivered in 79 conference papers.
