I. Mechnikov National University popup.description2  A rigorous many-particle model is developed for the electrical conductivity of suspensions of nanoparticles whose electrical double layer incorporates the Stern layer, stagnant layer, and mobile external part. Based on it, an essential role of the stagnant layer in the formation of the electrical conductivity of these suspensions is revealed; criteria for different types of behavior of the conductivity to occur are determined; and the conductivity and thickness of the stagnant layer for suspensions of nanoparticles in aqueous electrolyte solutions are evaluated. A calculational technique, accounting for reemission and correlation effects of higher orders, is developed for the optical characteristics of photon transport in concentrated suspensions of particles with stagnant layers. The mean-free-path length of photons in concentrated suspensions of hard spheres is investigated as a function of the volume concentration and the refractive indices of the spheres. New procedures for measuring the zeta-potential in suspensions of nanoparticles are proposed which assume a combined analysis of electrical spectroscopy data and those obtained either for the hydrodynamic radius of the particles from laser correlation spectroscopy measurements or for the photon transport characteristics. A theory is developed and tested for quasistatic dielectric response of systems of anisotropic particles of different types, including systems of anisotropic spheres, mixtures of crystallites, and polycrystals Product Description popup.authors Balika Svitlana D.
