The purpose of the work is to develop computer-aided design techniques for the rapid creation of multifunctional promising composite materials based on refractory borides that can withstand high temperatures, ablation energies, mechanical impact, aggressive chemical environments, radioactivity, etc., to solve safety problems. Research methods — computer modeling. A methodology for selecting candidate materials from databases has been developed, which consists in the following: 1) select a set of materials that include known successful samples, without analyzing their features; 2) perform grouping based on the features of the selected data set using machine learning (clustering); 3) determine which data clusters the prototypes fall into. Corresponding clusters potentially contain other materials with the required set of characteristics; 4) conduct an analysis of the signs by which the materials are assigned to a certain cluster; 5) weed out frankly irrelevant features to improve the relevance of the model and increase its bias towards the necessary properties of the material; 6) apply the model to a much wider set of materials. Materials that fall into prototype clusters and are promising candidate materials.
