The purpose of the work is to prepare a scientific report that includes an overview of legal sources on forensic examination and expert practice, the history of forensic examination; improved general theory of forensic expertise with the development of conceptual foundations and teachings on the classification of forensic expertise, subject and tasks of forensic expertise, objects of forensic expertise. Theoretical and practical results — during the improvement of expert methods, methodological recommendations and normative acts and the development of new ones for the purpose of regulatory regulation of forensic expert activity. The novelty is that this work is the first in the last more than 30 years to conduct a thorough study by specialists in the field of forensic examination of scientific works, achievements and gaps in the basic legislation of Ukraine on the formation of the theoretical foundations of forensic expertise.
