The work's purpose is to study national identity, cultural unity, and communication features of emigrant and mainland literature as a process separated by borders, but spiritually integral in the conditions of the geopolitical rift between the free world and the totalitarian system. Research methods: thematic typology, genealogical analysis, imagological, plot-compositional, linguistic-stylistic, receptive-aesthetic methods. The results obtained. As a result of studying the topic, the leading theoretical and methodological aspects of Ukrainian mainland and diaspora literature from the earliest to the 21st century were studied. It was found that in the 20th century Ukrainian literature entered under the sign of Frankov's "Moses". Ivan Franko, who at a young age was directed to the path of conscious public and literary activity by the Ukrainian political emigrant Mykhailo Drahomanov, with his titanic activity inspired the younger generations in Ukraine and beyond its borders to fight for national liberation, which culminated in the achievement of state independence at the end of the 20th century. Separated at one time by borders, but today spiritually whole, Ukrainian literature, together with its courageous people and the entire free world, has become at odds with the empire of evil.
