During 2019-2023, the executors of the topic worked on the research work "Literature of Memory – Memory of Literatures" (UDC 82.09: 159.953; state registration number 0118U100007, scientific supervisor of the topic is Doctor of Philology Ovcharenko Nataliia Fedorivna). The planned topic was aimed at an in-depth study of the category of memory in post-postmodern and postmodern international discourse. The fundamental research clarifies the features of the functioning, development and typology of historical discourse in Western literatures of the nineteenth and twenty-first centuries. The relevance of the work is associated not only with the growing need of modern culture in the study of the category of historical memory, which in the context of the domestic socio-cultural sphere acquires additional importance in connection with its movement towards self-determination in the cultural and historical field, but also with the need to synchronize domestic literary criticism with the modern world humanitarian discourse, for which attention to the study of the category of memory in a historical format is one of the priority areas. In particular, it is emphasized that the current historical and cultural situation is marked by the desire to return to the category of memory, which was mostly taken out of brackets by postmodernism, in its postpostmodernist projection. In addition, an important feature of the presented work is the emphasis on the national specifics of the use of the category of memory by writers (the works of French, English, and Canadian authors are analyzed). It is demonstrated that along with more general patterns in the interpretation of artistic material, the authors implemented anti-imperial and anti-colonial impulses, emphasizing the concept of identity.
