Recently, there has been an increase in the professionalism of criminals, their use of modern technical means, new methods of preparing, committing and concealing crimes. Considering the fact that crime is one step ahead of the work of law enforcement agencies in informational, technical and technological terms, there is a need to systematically update and improve forensic methods, methods and means, adapting them to the urgent needs of pre-trial investigation bodies. Traditionally, forensic science deals with the development of such scientific and technical tools and recommendations. It develops and involves from other fields of knowledge various methods, techniques without which it is impossible to solve or investigate crimes. Therefore, the issue of forensic support of the practice of investigating criminal offenses requires due attention, which indicates the relevance of the presented research work. Thus, the goal of the work is the comprehensive interdisciplinary development of the main theoretical and organizational principles of forensic support for the investigation of criminal offenses as a specific activity, and improvement based on the analysis of forensic practice of the main provisions of the methodology of the investigation of the main types of criminal offenses using the example of the investigation of rape and gang activity. The multifaceted and complex nature of the goal made it necessary to solve specific tasks, among which the most important are the following: - formulation of the concept of forensic support for the investigation of criminal offenses, its essence and content; - determination of the main elements of forensic support of the methodology of investigation of criminal offenses and its place and role in the improvement of investigative practice.
