Registration Date 21-06-2024 Organization Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies popup.description2 The results of research work obtained in 2023 bring the executors closer to the completion of generalising works on the ethnic genesis of the Ukrainian people and are largely covered in the publications of 2023. The content and logic of the sequence of the presentation of acrophonic terms accompanying the letters of the Cyrillic alphabet were comprehended, and the role and purpose of the numerical part of the Cyrillic alphabet were elucidated. The common methodological basis of the acrophonic and numerical parts of the Cyrillic alphabet is revealed, and its origins in ancient and Hellenic-Byzantine philosophical and theological cultures are traced. The introduction and usage of the Cyrillic alphabet was one of the factors of the ethnic genesis of Ukrainians and the formation and development of ethnic traits of mediaeval Ukrainians. It is shown that the phenomenon of the baptism of the princes of Ukraine-Rus, which was largely decisive for the cultural complex of Ukrainians, took place in a situation of complex and contradictory trends of the historical development of that time. The development of mapping schemes for the archaeological attribution of Slavs in the Dnipro basin from the 7th century has been completed. BCE. to the 7th century CE. Hundreds of breeding nests of Antes and Sclavenis have been localised. The analysis of archaeological sources showed the direct continuity of ethnocultural development in the Middle and Upper Dnieper basins, starting from the turn of the era. This region is key to Slavic ethnogenesis. It is shown that at the beginning of the early Middle Ages, during the final period of the Great Migration of Peoples, the basis of the Ukrainian ethnic territory was formed within the basins of the Dnieper, Southern Buh, Dniester, as well as partially in the basins of the Vistula and the Don .
