UKRAINIAN POLISSIA, SPIRITUAL CUTLURE, BURIAL RITUALS, COMMEMORATIVE TRADITIONS The object of the research is a complex of and commemorative rituals in the frames of historical-ethnographical region of Ukrainian Polissia. The goal of the research is analytical generalization of existing factographical materials (archival and published) that deal burial-commemorative rituals of population of Ukrainian Polissia in the beginning of XX – XXI c., and coverage of general regional and local peculiarities of the investigated ritual complex, its territorial differentiation, as well as transformation processes that took place there during the last decades. The methods of the research – application of systematic approach to research of spiritual culture using chronological, typological, comparative methods, methods of reconstruction and ethnolinguistic analysis. The research is based on the methods of field expedition work, namely: observation, interviewing (work with respondents) and photo-fixation. Scientific novelty of the work is that for the first time in Ukrainian ethnological science complex research of burial traditions in Ukrainian Polissia was prepared. Gathering, systematization, classification of all massif of field material received during two decades from resettlers coming from Chornobyl area, as well as residents of the villages, included to various zones of radiation contamination is an extremely important step for keeping memory about cultural heritage of the territories that are threatened to complete oblivion in the result of anthropogenic catastrophe. During 2021–2023 research studies on the problem (223 positions) were thoroughly investigated; analysis of author field materials (14 complex, 5 thematic expeditions, information from approximately 300 villages of 24 rajons of Chernihiv, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Rivne and Volhyn oblasts).
