In this work, a new type of azo-containing polyazomethines (Azo-Pam) was obtained, which contain perfluorinated fragments in combination with flexible oxyphenylene chains. Due to the proposed design, the obtained polymers are soluble in highly polar aprotic solvents, from the solution of which flexible thermostable films are formed. Such films realize reverse cis-trans-cis isomerization transitions under UV and visible light, and are also capable of photoinduced birefringence and polarization grating recording. In this work, we propose an approach to the preparation of a new fluorinated aromatic copolyether with azobenzene fragments in the main polymer chain. The combination of azobenzene fragments, meta-isomeric units, flexible aromatic ether groups and thermostable perfluorinated biphenylene blocks in the structure of macromolecular chains leads to an amorphous polymer with exceptional solubility, thermal stability and the ability to form films with high mechanical characteristics. The synthesized copolyether has a similar chemical structure to Azo-Pam, but without azomethine groups, and was used for a more detailed study of the kinetics of trans-cis-trans photoisomerization transitions of chromophore groups. The results show that the obtained polymers are promising as thermostable components in wavelength division multiplexing technologies, monochromators, lasers, and many photosensitive "smart" systems, namely reconfigurable elements and command surfaces for liquid crystals.
