It is shown that the study of the vapor phase of thermally modified samples of light petroleum products (motor gasoline, middle distillate fuels) and solvents by the chromatography-mass spectrometry method allows in most cases to establish the species belonging to the investigated light petroleum products and solvents. The results of this work can be used in the conduct of expertise in the study of petroleum products and solvents, as well as in the training of experts in the field of automotive fuel research.
