The manufacturers of these documents use modern technologies for their production and protection elements, so today IDs are high-tech products. Taking it into account, for their research specialists need to have knowledge to establish signs of the authenticity of protection elements. This work collects and systematizes information on methods of manufacturing modern and promising elements of protection of identification documents, contains a description of the features of their reproduction technologies. Since the main identifier of a person during ID verification is his image, special attention is paid to the technologies of applying a photo image of the owner of the document, in particular, such as Lasink, Innosec Fusion, Color Laser Shield, laser engraving. The features of the specified technologies that are needed to be paid attention to, during ID research, are described.
