Ways of solving the issue of improving road safety were considered, changes in the volume of transport environmental load were studied using the example of the city of Kharkiv. The question of the feasibility of determining traffic parameters and the use of artificial intelligence for traffic management in large cities, taking into account the dynamics of traffic flows, is considered. A description of the practical implementation of contour traffic control on the street and road network of the city of Kharkiv is provided. The assessment of the influence of elements of road and pedestrian infrastructure on the efficiency of the functioning of intersections has been determined. The purpose of the work is to improve traffic safety based on the study of traffic patterns in cities, on country roads and some complex elements of the transport infrastructure. Research methods — mathematical and simulation modeling of traffic and pedestrian traffic, analysis of safety indicators, probabilistic methods of determining the risks of road accidents and laws of distribution of parameters of traffic traffic. An analysis of transport and social safety of road traffic in Ukraine and abroad was carried out. The results regarding the improvement of road traffic safety are provided, promising measures for the organization of road traffic are determined, which affect road traffic safety and increase its efficiency.
