The possibility of using ion channels and membrane transporters as markers to establish the functionality of protozoa or as molecular targets for drugs in the treatment of male infertility is noted. It was established that pathospermia is associated with a decrease in Na+,K+- and Ca2+,Mg2+-ATPase activities in sperm cells. With the help of ROC analysis, it was established that activity of thapsigargin-sensitive Ca2+,Mg2+-ATPase of spermatozoa shows an excellent diagnostic value for asthenospermia, oligoasthenospermia and leucospermia, and a significant diagnostic value for oligozoospermia. An increase in the TBARS content, decrease in GP, GR and GsT activities, a decrease in the redox index of glutathione, which indicates the development of oxidative stress in patients with pathospermia, were established. Based on the ratio of indicators of the state of antioxidant factors (GP, GR and GsT activity, GSH content) and pro-oxidant manifestations (TBARS and GSSG content), indicators of antioxidant status were calculated and a pathologically associated sequence was established: oligozoospermia > oligoasthenozoospermia ≈ asthenozoospermia >> leukocytospermia. It was established that GP and GsT activities can be used to distinguish patients with pathospermia and normozoospermia, and enzyme activities can serve as valuable diagnostic biomarkers to distinguish patients with pathospermia from fertile men, regardless of the causes of pathospermia.
