OO Potebny of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 The object of the study is West, South, and East Slavic languages. The purpose of the study is to represent the lexical fund of the Ukrainian language in comparison with the vocabulary of the Slavic languages of other groups (West and South Slavic) in the era of globalization; creation of Ukrainian- Slavic dictionaries of a modern type. Key words: Slavic studies, Slavic languages, Czech language, Polish language, Serbian language, Croatian language, vocabulary, phraseology, lexicography. The paper on the applied topic “Slavic languages in culture and society: theoretical, lexicographic and linguodidactic studies” is very timely since in the modern globalized world, where the preservation of one’s own national identity turns into a priority task of all Slavic peoples, the role of theoretical, linguodidactic investigations and lexicographical products is growing immeasurably, turning into a powerful tool of interethnic cultural “navigation”. After all, Slavic peoples need the mentioned studies not only for the purpose of their final successful integration into the European and global cultural and scientific space, but also in order to understand themselves and other, ethnically close, peoples. The studied topic will contribute to the earliest possible implementation of the long-awaited “tectonic shifts” related to the European integration of Ukraine, and, accordingly, a breakthrough through the barriers of the old “optics” of the perception of our country in the West. According to leading Ukrainian linguists, the essential factors for the survival of Ukrainian and other Slavic languages in the future will be not only a significant area of their prevalence and a large number of native speakers, a high index of human development, their retention of international status, but also the urgent need to make a “digital leap” and overcome the digital barrier, which will ensure their prevalence in the digital environment and high resistance.
