Purpose: to develop a method for determining the redox potentials of N-carbamoyl-, N-arylaminocarbonyl-1,4-benzoquinone imines and their measurement. Methods: organic synthesis, physicochemical methods of research of organic compounds: elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR spectroscopy, direct potentiometry. Results: N-carbamoyl-, N-arylaminocarbonyl-1,4-benzoquinone imines have been synthesized. Their redox potentials were measured by direct potentiometry. It was established that their redox potentials were close to the redox potentials of redox pairs, which were measured by potentiometric titration of 4-arylsulfonylbenz(methyl)imidoyl-aminophenols with lead tetraacetate in a 0.5 M solution of sodium acetate in glacial ethanoic acid. It was experimentally shown the relationship between the nature of the substituent in the para-position of the aryl fragment of N-arylaminocarbonyl-1,4-benzoquinone imines and their redox potential: with increasing electron-accepting properties of the substituent the redox potential of quinone imine increases. Efficacy: The results provide important information for predicting the behavior of these quinone imines in different biological systems when using their reduced forms as drugs. This allows to purposefully search for new drugs based on similar structures, as well as search for the most rational ways of their synthesis based on information about their redox properties.
