Research methods: systematic approach to the study of the process of machining parts on heavy machine tools, their conditions and features, regularities of processes, provisions of the theory of cutting materials, the theory of designing cutting tools, qualimetry, reliability theories, operations research, decision making, probability theory and mathematical statistics, the theory of regression and correlation analysis, mathematical statistics. Theoretical and practical results: Analytical studies of the conditions for the production of parts of various groups at enterprises of heavy engineering and the energy industry and the study of the layouts of machine tools of various groups, tools and tooling were carried out. Novelty: theoretical foundations for the creation of machine-tool systems to improve the efficiency of processing heavy engineering parts have been developed. The regularities of work processes for machining heavy engineering parts have been established. Effectiveness of implementation: a structural diagram of the process of turning non-rigid forgings with the use of automatic control systems is developed, a schematic diagram of the integration of the ultrasonic hardening module into the CNC machine system is proposed.
