On specially developed model objects, co-cultures of synaptically connected neurons of different departments of the nervous system, electrophysiological mechanisms of modulating effects on synaptic transmission of hyperglycemia, which is a condition for modeling pathological conditions, were studied. It was shown that insulin has a modulating effect on the short-term synaptic plasticity of hippocampal neurons, stimulating the release of glutamate due to an increase in the quantum content in synapses of neurons under normal conditions of insulin; blockade of protein kinase C activity is able not only to prevent the induction of long-term potentiation by hypoxia, but also to depotentiate synaptic transmission from the potentiated to the basal level; it is shown that the majority of neurons of the trigeminal nerve ganglion are characterized by adrenergic modulation of calcium currents, which is mediated by protein kinase C, and the value of the effective amplitude of the calcium signal per pulse was determined, which is a dynamic characteristic of the calcium homeostasis of neurons of the trigeminal nerve ganglion under the conditions of natural generation of action potentials by these neurons; neurons of the submandibular ganglion show a tendency to decrease the frequency of generation of action potentials in comparison with neurons of the superior cervical ganglion, and also demonstrate a statistically significant decrease in membrane potential and excitability threshold in conditions of induced hyperglycemia.
