In the forest vegetation conditions of the Zhytomyr region, pine stands are dominant. Their mass share in the forest fund of the Zhytomyr Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting is 72.6%. Pine stands are of considerable forestry and recreational importance. To date, the pine stands of the Central Polissia are under threat of losing resistance to the complex impact of adverse climatic, forest pathological, pyrological, and anthropogenic factors due to the spread of apical, six-toothed bark beetles, causative agents of root and pine fungus. Extreme damage is caused by forest fires, which annually destroy about 564.3 hectares in Zhyomyr region alone. State forest fund. All the factors listed above are caused not only by the influence of anthropogenic factors, but also by significant climatic changes. In addition to the Zhytomyr region, damage to pine stands by the above-mentioned pests and diseases, as well as those destroyed by forest fires, including large-scale ones, is observed in the territories of the Volyn, Lviv, Rivne, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Ternopil, and Ivano-Frankivsk regions. The drying of pine stands of different ages due to the complex impact of pests and pathogens of both fungal and bacterial origin first took on the character of mass epiphytotia already at the beginning of 2012. Even at the beginning of 2010, such large-scale droughts were not observed. Therefore, by 2021, a plan of measures to limit the mass drying of Scots pine stands, as well as the occurrence and spread of forest fires, including large-scale ones, was not developed. In this regard, the study of the current forest pathological and pyrological state, which leads to the mass destruction of pine stands in the conditions of the Central Polissia and in the territory of the Zhytomyr region in particular, is quite relevant.
