The subject of the research is theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of regional tourism development in modern conditions. The purpose of the study is to generalize theoretical provisions, methodological foundations and develop practical recommendations for the formation of mechanisms to ensure the innovativeness of regional tourism in modern conditions as a priority of socio-economic development of the regions of Ukraine. The study substantiates the conceptual foundations of the essence and prerequisites for the development of regional tourism, clarifies and expands the conceptual and categorical framework (specifies the content of the concepts of «regional tourism» and «tourist region»), identifies ways to optimize and modernize regional tourism in Ukraine. The main directions of regional tourism development are identified: the importance and role of entrepreneurship is analyzed, the role of territorial communities is investigated, the role and possibilities of the resource potential of the UNESCO heritage for the development of regional tourism in comparison with global trends (as an experience for Ukraine) are revealed. The importance of innovations in the development of regional tourism is disclosed: a model for innovative tourism product implementation is offered; the peculiarities of the modern transformation of economic relations of tourism industry entities under the influence of digital technologies are revealed and the prospects for the introduction of digital technologies in the regional tourism of Ukraine are analyzed; the essence, place and role of logistics activities in the regional market of tourism services are clarified. The peculiarities of the regional aspect of tourism education, which affects the development of regional tourism, are highlighted. The research materials can be used in tourism activity.
