The purpose of the work is to conduct research on the methodological unity, accuracy and reliability of the existing experimental and experimental-analytical methods for establishing the calculated characteristics of asphalt concrete. Research methods are analytical and experimental. An analysis of the existing methods of determining the modulus of elasticity (deformation) of asphalt concrete was carried out, and the mandatory inclusion of the method of determining the limits of linear viscoelastic deformation in regulatory documents was established. A modal analysis of self-oscillations of asphalt concrete beams, which are tested to determine the modulus of elasticity at different temperatures and load frequencies, was made. The study of the modulus of elasticity and other rheological indicators was carried out on a vibrostand of asphalt concrete samples of various shapes, sizes and manufacturing methods. The results of studies of long-term strength indicate that, according to its patterns, a more objective assessment of the behavior of asphalt concrete during operation can be achieved. At the same time, the following indicators can be useful: time to failure at normalized stresses and temperatures, coefficients of water and medium resistance, values ​​of power-law coefficients for calculating the durability of asphalt concrete.
