The purpose of the study is to investigate the main legal aspects, theoretical and practical foundations of proactive documentation by archives of the events of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. The methodological basis for solving the tasks set in the research is the principles of systematicity and complexity. The research methods used are analysis and synthesis, comparison, generalization, questionnaires, interpretation, and forecasting. The author defines the current legislative, regulatory, normative and methodological regulation of works on proactive documentation by archives of the events of the ongoing large-scale armed aggression, taking into account the conditions of the legal regime of martial law in Ukraine. Possible forms of organization of works on initiative documentation in the archives are presented. The main concepts faced by archives in the process of initiative documentation for the formation of the National Archival Fond are defined. The existing methods of documenting the events of the large-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the types of documents created by the archive as a result of this workflow are outlined. General recommendations for the formation of archival collections of various types of documents that record events and facts of the national present are proposed. As a result of the research, based on the generalization of theoretical and empirical material, methodological recommendations “Proactive Documentation of Events of the Large-Scale Armed Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine” were developed.
