Optimal parameters for bent crystals were identified for the most effective deflection of electrons and positrons in the energy range from 1 TeV to 3 TeV. These parameters were determined for each of the three main mechanisms of charged particle deflection in bent crystals: planar channeling, stochastic deflection, and volume reflection. A comparison of the obtained dependencies of the number of deflected particles on the crystal bending radius for these mechanisms allowed for the conclusion that in the energy range from 1 TeV to 3 TeV, the greatest number of both positrons and electrons can be deflected using planar channeling in a bent crystal. The optimal bending radius of a silicon crystal for the most effective deflection of positrons with an energy of 1 TeV is 20 m, and for electrons, it is 12 m. For an energy of 3 TeV, these values are 60 m and 36 m, respectively. For positrons, the maximum number of particles deflected by the crystal bending angle is approximately 80% of the particles incident on the crystal, while for electrons, it is about 30%. The results obtained in this work can also be used to analyze the possibility of deflecting other particles with a charge equal to that of an electron or positron within the specified energy range using bent crystals, as the equations of motion involve particle energy rather than mass. In particular, the results are valid for muons, which is important in light of plans to build a muon collider. Product Description popup.authors Kyryllin Ihor V. popup.nrat_date 2024-11-13 Close
