A large number of chess players from this city are multiple prize-winners and champions of all-Ukrainian and international level competitions. From 2005 to 2012, Kamianske is the only city in the history of Ukraine that hosted the European Championship at its sports base and four world-level international checkers competitions in which more than 400 athletes from 24 countries of the world took part, which indicates a high the authority of the city checkers federation in the world community. The sources of these unprecedented facts cannot but have historical origins since Ukraine gained independence.
