It was shown that the content of key compounds (canavanine, indospicine) in the green biomass of acclimatized plants did not differ significantly from plants growing in Australia, which indicates the possibility of using acclimatized plants as a cheap and accessible source of arginine analogs. Water-ethanol and methanol-chloromethane extracts were obtained from seeds, green biomass, and roots of Indigofera spicata. The extracts were characterized by the content of arginine and its analogs. Indigofera spicata extracts treated with recombinant human arginase I were also obtained to test the hypothesis of higher antimicrobial efficacy of arginine-free extracts. Growth kinetics of model strains of non-pathogenic microorganisms (E. coli, B. subtilis, P. aerurinosa, S. cerevisiae, C. phaffii, C. albicans) were determined.
