Cohort study protocols were developed, and participants in this study were recruited. Laboratory studies were initiated to determine the level of pre-selected biomarkers in the blood and bowel movements of the study participants. The data collected from these studies allow us to assess the immune status of the participants, identify possible changes in the immune response and mechanisms of necrotic changes that may be associated with the development of PTSD.
