The Stokes correlometric methodology was first tested in differentiating subtle changes in the optical anisotropy of polycrystalline plasma films from healthy donors and patients with prostate cancer. It was found that in cases of weak changes in optical anisotropy, Stokes correlometry methods remain more sensitive (by 10%-20%) compared to traditional polarization mapping methods.
