Krypyakevych of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description1 Interdisciplinary research of relics of Christian churches of the 11th-14th centuries, temples of the 15th-18th centuries. and necropolises that functioned within their sacred space discovered on the territory of western Ukraine popup.description2  The purpose of the first stage of the research is to clarify the differentiated nature of funerary monuments, their common and distinctive features (for the 11th–13th centuries - ground burials near temples, burials under slabs, in special ritual structures and sarcophagi, including in arcosolia, marking the place of burials with crosses and tombstones; for the 14th–18th centuries - the appearance and reasons for innovations - brick tombs, crypts, burials under the floor of temples, monumental tombstones, the presence of a complex of specific accompanying inventory, etc.) and their manifestations in time and space. Methodologically, the project is based on the principles of historicism, systematicity, and objectivity. The main tasks of the research: processing scientific reports on the results of archaeological research of relics of churches and burials (mostly unpublished); verification of data on the identification, localization, and dating of burial complexes; collection and digitization of plans of churches, crypts and necropolises (or individual burials); processing of stock archaeological collections originating from burials and stored in scientific and museum institutions (description, photography and drawing of artifacts); formation of a corpus of illustrative materials that will highlight the differentiation of burial complexes of the 11th–17th centuries. development of a thesaurus of funerary monuments as a basis for compiling exhaustive registers, reflected in 2 volumes (vol. 1 – monuments of the 11th–13th centuries, vol. 2 – monuments of the 14th–18th centuries).
