Biological material was collected from 622 wild birds of 43 species belonging to 18 families. Based on the results of serological tests, antibodies to influenza A virus were detected in 4.6% of PASSERIFORMES, which is an increase compared to the previous year. PCR revealed an unexpectedly high level of infection among passerine birds with influenza virus type A (17.6 - 60%). Positive samples were collected in different regions of Ukraine from birds that have ecological links with wild waterfowl, wading birds, and birds of synanthropic potential often observed near the dwellings of humans, domestic animals, and birds. In 2024, epidemiological monitoring of influenza A virus circulation among domestic and wild mammals in Ukraine continued (1809 blood serum and nasal swab samples were tested). The seroprevalence of influenza virus remained consistently high in unvaccinated pigs (10-100%) and horses (10-100%) in 11 regions of Ukraine. These serological findings indicate that the influenza virus is circulating in the populations of these animals, which may pose a risk of new virus variants emerging. The study of influenza circulation in wild animals was also continued. Antibodies were detected in 8% of wild carnivores (foxes) from different regions of Ukraine. During the analysis of archival blood serum samples from wild boars, antibodies were detected in 30.6% of animals. Serological tests revealed the presence of specific antibodies to influenza A virus in domestic carnivores: cats (2.6% seropositivity) and dogs (3-3.8%). In 2024, as a result of virological studies, 15 hemagglutinating isolates identified as influenza A viruses were isolated from biological material of pigs from different farms in Ukraine.
