The object of the study is domestic and foreign varieties of tobacco. The subject of the study is a system for assessing the features of inheritance of adaptive and economically valuable traits in tobacco plant breeding, which determines the breeding value of the tobacco gene pool of different geographical origins by a complex of morphological and economically valuable traits and the effectiveness of their use in creating heterotic hybrids. The purpose of the work is to study the database of parental pairs for the inheritance of economically valuable traits during multi-stage hybridization to create hybrids resistant to environmental stress factors. Research methods: field, laboratory, breeding аnd statistical. In the conditions of the Forest-Steppe of Ukraine, the features of the manifestation of economically valuable traits of collection tobacco samples in conditions of insufficient moisture and high temperatures were first studied and new genetic sources were identified according to the morphological characteristics of plants, yield of raw materials, seed productivity and precocity. The results of the study of the source tobacco material according to the complex of main breeding and genetic traits that affect the yield of raw materials, seed productivity of plants and the duration of their vegetation were highlighted. The best tobacco variety samples according to the complex of traits were proposed for introduction into production and involvement in the breeding process. A system for assessing the features of the inheritance of adaptive and economically valuable traits in tobacco plant breeding has been developed, which is based on the study of the results of the inheritance of productivity and biometric indicators of the obtained hybrids.
