Exploration of the peculiarities of the formation of parasite communities of the Antarctic black rockcod as the most numerous species of fish will allow us to assess the state and dynamics of changes in the infracommunities of the teleost fish parasites in the region of the Argentine Islands over the past decades. popup.description2  The purpose of this study was to update the information on the endoparasite species diversity of teleost fish from the Argentine Islands region and analyze the current state and dynamics of parasite communities. The study of Notothenia coriiceps parasitic community formation allows us to assess the dynamics of changes in the infragroups of parasites in the region over the past decades. In N. coriiceps and Champsocephalus gunnari studied in 2023–2024 in the water area of the Akademik Vernadsky Station, 19 helminth species were found, including one species of monogeneans, 3 trematodes, 4 cestodes, 4 nematodes and 7 acanthocephalans. At the same time, 17 species were found in N. coriiceps, and 15 in C. gunnari. According to the prevalence (P), three groups of species were found: dominant (P=70–100%), background (P=20–70%) and rare (P < 20%). A significant decrease in the helminth species richness (from 24 to 17 species) and a trend of decreasing diversity indices (Shannon and Simpson indices) over the past 10 years were recorded. Use of a regression model to assess variations in Notothenia helminth infection for 2014–2023/2024 period revealed a statistically significant increase in level of fish infection in 2020 and 2021 and decreases in 2022 and 2023 relative to the base 2014year. A dramatic decrease in species richness was detected in 2022 and 2023. Using of machine learning made it possible to find out that the trematodes Macvicaria pennelli, Genolinea bowersi, and Elytrophalloides oatesi, the acanthocephalans Corynosoma spp. and bilocular metacestodes are the most important taxa determining changes in the N. coriiceps helminth infragroups. A detailed study of individual helminth species of West Antarctic fish was carried out, in particular, Corynosoma pseudohamanni was redescribed and molecularly analyzed, the mitochondrial genome of Aspersentis megarhynchus was studied, and a new species of monogenean Pseudobenedeniella johnstoni sp. n. was described.
