Research on the glow discharge and recommendations for the use of this discharge on stellarators, in particular on W7-X. Improvement of refraction-based microwave diagnostics methods for studying plasma at the U-2M stellarator. Modeling of plasma equilibrium and retention, MHD activity of U-2M discharges with a small field and high plasma beta. Comparative analysis of MHD and, in particular, Alphen modes on stellarators and tokamaks. popup.description2 Numerical calculations of the parameters of the glow discharge plasma were performed based on a globally averaged model. The obtained calculation results were compared with the experimental results. Numerical calculations of the trajectories of microwave rays in an inhomogeneous plasma were performed for different plasma profiles when the applicability conditions for WKB approximation are met. The VMEC code was adapted for the Uragan-2M stellarator (l=2, m=4) for calculations in the standard approximation. The following methods were used: Calculation of vacuum magnetic surfaces according to the Biot-Savart formula, calculations using the STELLOPT package code. It was found that when the plasma shifts outward, the magnetic islands caused by currents in the magnetic field connection conductors disappear. A revision of the diagnostic data available to the project implementers was carried out. In addition to the availability of diagnostic data from the U-2M stellarator (Kharkiv, Ukraine), within the framework of cooperation on the EUROfusion project, the NRFU project participants have access to diagnostic data from the tokamaks JET (Great Britain), TCV (Switzerland), ASDEX-U (Germany), MAST-U (Great Britain) and the stellarators TJ-II (Spain) and W7-X (Germany). These diagnostic data are sufficient for the implementation of the project. Methods: we studied the methods of accessing the databases of these facilities. On a topic related to the project, the results of studying high-frequency Alfven modes were submitted in 2 articles, which were accepted for publication in the Nuclear Fusion journal. Plasma measurement data obtained with a triple probe at U-2M in experimental campaigns of past years allow us to obtain plasma temperature and density profiles necessary for further calculations using the VMEC code within the framework of the current project.  Product Description popup.authors DREVALʹ Mykola B.
