Modeling and substantiation of operability and service life of control rods with developed neutron absorbing materials were performed: - service life substantiation of the fuel rod cladding made of selected material based on predicted mechanical and corrosion resistance parameters and radiation growth at the end of service life in reactor core; - comparative analysis of the physical efficiency of neutron absorption of standard design absorber rods with absorber rods containing the developed material; - substantiation of VVER-1000 RCCA absorber rod design with components manufactured using technologies developed at Ukrainian enterprises capable of anufacturing products during and after the war. Pilot batches of boron carbide and dysprosium titanate pellets and dummy absorber rods using them were manufactured. Passports were issued for the manufactured materials and absorber rods. Materials science investigations were carried out to substantiate serviceability of absorber rod materials under normal operating conditions: - corrosion in coolant; - compatibility of pellet and cladding materials; - behavior under cyclic temperature variations; - behavior under dynamic loads; - analysis of the effect of irradiation on material characteristics. Design documentation for the absorber rods was prepared. Process instructions regulating manufacturing, testing and quality control operations during the production of components and absorber rods were issued. Recommendations on the absorber rod option for development of VVER-1000 RCCAtechnical design and working documentation for commercial production were prepared.
