Head Dykhanov Yurii M., Komorin Viktor M., Registration Date 19-12-2024 Organization Ukrainian scientific center of Ecology of Sea popup.description1 The aim of the work is to reveal the structure of the oceanographic fields of the Southern Ocean in the areas of scientific and economic interests of Ukraine according data obtained during the 2023-2024, made on board the super trawler «Sea of the Commonwealth» and the UAS «Akademik Vernadskyi» against the background of climate changes. popup.description2  Research Report: 133 pages, 18 tables, 70 figures, 2 attachments, 57 sources. SOUTHERN OCEAN, HYDROLOGICAL FRONTS, SOUTH ORKNEY ISLANDS, BRANSFIELD STRAIT, ANTARCTIC STATION «AKADEMIK VERNADSKY». Research object – Waters of the Atlantic sector of the Southern Ocean and waters adjacent to the Ukrainian Antarctic Station «Akademik Vernadsky» (UAS). Research purpose – to identify trends in climatic changes of oceanographic fields in the Southern Ocean within the areas of Ukraine's economic interests in CCAMLR 48.1 and 48.2, based on measurements conducted in 2023-2024 from the super krill fishing trawler "More Sodruzhestva" and at UAS. Methods – Traditional methods of graphical, statistical, spectral, and volumetric T, S-analysis were used for data processing, incorporating satellite data and data from the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service. The results demonstrated interannual and seasonal variability of the main hydrological fronts in the South Atlantic. A long-term climatic southward shift of the Southern Polar Front and Subpolar Front zones over the past thirty years was shown. Hydrological features of waters in fishing areas near the South Orkney Islands and in the Bransfield Strait were identified in 2024. Thermohaline characteristics of waters in the Penola Strait observation area were provided. Based on UAS data, analysis of long-term variability in oceanographic parameters was performed. The results of this work will expand knowledge about the Southern Ocean, determine trends in climatic variability of oceanographic fields, and enable forecasting of zones with enhanced biological productivity and commercial significance.
