This new knowledge can be used to improve technologies for cleaning vacuum chambers in large machines, which in turn will contribute to the development of science and technology. Through this work, we can expand our understanding of the physics of discharges and the study of vacuum systems, making an important contribution to our common scientific heritage. popup.description2 Radiofrequency cleaning of the walls of the U-2M stellarator in an argon atmosphere using a double-strip antenna was studied. The elemental and charge composition of the plasma was determined using optical emission spectroscopy. he partial pressures of the residual gas components before and after cleaning the walls were determined by mass spectroscopy. The results of the measurements showed that among the main components of the residual gases there is a decrease in the partial pressure of water and heavy hydrocarbons, as well as an increase in the release of hydrogen after the wall cleaning procedure. The data of the experiments of the combined microwave discharge together with the direct current discharge conducted at the U2-M stellarator were processed. An experiment was performed to study a combined discharge in an Ar atmosphere in a large volume of a vacuum chamber. From the constructed experimental dependencies, it was found that the voltage on the discharge can be significantly reduced when microwave power is introduced into the plasma of the glow discharge, accordingly, this will make it possible to reduce the sputtering coefficient of the materials of the chamber wall and materials that interact with the plasma in the vacuum chamber. It was also found that when microwave power is introduced into the plasma of a glow discharge, the current strength increases, and the intensity of plasma radiation increases.
