The resulting product after preclinical and clinical trials, will be a medical means providing a stop or slowing of internal bleeding, a significant reduction in the risk of sepsis before surgical care, and suitable for use in the field. popup.description2 Hydrogel foam composition for abdominal wounds emergency care is a new medical device the relevance of which is confirmed by today's realities. The general concept of this product was created by abdominal surgeons back in the beginning of this century when analyzing the increase in the proportion of deaths from abdominal wounds during military campaigns. Thanks to the financing of this project the creation of such a device took on real shapes. In particular, at the initial stage of the project as a result of a wide discussion among the medical community the relevance of creating this device was confirmed, its functions and properties were specified. In particular, the requirements for the nature of the polymer material and the purpose of the complex of therapeutic agents that must be included in the hydrogel composition were determined. The concept of hemostatic action of the device and bactericidal properties of the device to ensure the cessation of intra-abdominal bleeding and the suspension of the peritonitis development was developed. The implementation of these tasks should significantly increase the time for providing clinical care to the wounded in hospital conditions without development of pathological complications and significantly increase their chances of survival. Moreover, it would greatly facilitate the treatment process. Experimental studies conducted during the reporting period confirmed the fundamental possibility of creating such a mean of providing emergency care with the above-mentioned properties. The study results allow to specify the scope, number of tasks and direction of the necessary experimental research and design work to successfully achieve the goal of the project both in individual parts and as a whole.  Product Description popup.authors Bukartyk Nataliia M.
