Based on the study of the experience of researching the historiography of philosophy in French, German and English philosophy, it is proved that the subject of the study of the historiography of philosophy as a historical-philosophical approach is the understanding of the past of philosophy by philosophers and historians of philosophy, the images of the past of philosophy constructed by them, their views on the relationship of this past with modern philosophy or philosophy as such, as well as their historiographical orientations, the process of formation of the history of philosophy as a discipline, the outline of its research programmes, etc. From the standpoint of this approach, a comparative analysis of projects on the study of the historiography of philosophy implemented in Ukraine in the years 1980-2010 was carried out. The results of the study significantly clarify the intellectual history of Ukraine, its methodology can be applied to the study of the historiography of national philosophies or the historiography of philosophy in general, and the ideas presented in it can be used in contemporary reflections on the problems of the development of Ukrainian philosophy and culture. The proposed study gives grounds to believe that the historiography of Ukrainian philosophy will develop, focusing on the ‘rediscovery’ of certain historical-philosophical phenomena that will be considered significant in the context of Ukrainian national self-identification, or self-identification of the Ukrainian philosophical community, or in the context of the study of pan-European or supranational philosophical trends and phenomena.
